Emmanuel Effiom DukeMechanical engineer and energy researcher

CFD modelling, machine-learning energy optimisation and air-quality research, grounded in a mechanical-engineering degree and hands-on HVAC work.

I trained as a mechanical engineer, earning a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (2024). Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and energy systems still shape how I approach problems, including in AI.

Research

My research covers computational fluid dynamics of power-plant equipment, machine-learning energy optimisation, low-power electric vehicles and air-quality management. I was also a citizen-testing-group participant in the EU Erasmus+ AirForAll project (2023–2024). Publications (synced from my ORCID record):

Skills

The same habits carry into my AI engineering: model the system, check it against measurements, and be explicit about what the model can't tell you.
